Sibu Heritage Walking Tour
Pick up at the hotel drive to the Rejang Esplanade. Get of the car and continues the visit by walking. This Esplanade is the first in the State set up in 1996 about a kilometer in length. We can see the mighty Swan statue at standing near to the esplanade. We walk down the esplanade around 3Minute, we will see the Hii Garden. Then take another 3 Minute walk to the Rejang express wharf. This new terminal serves as the “port-of-call” for the many vessels plying upriver to the interior towns of Kapit and Belaga or down river towards the coast to Kuching. Next will pass through the shop house along the river. We will see the “floating market” that is a small “ship” which was modified and converted as “mobile shop” to transport goods from Sibu town to the people who is living along the Rejang River. Locally known as “bandung” and it does already exist for many years.
The Mighty Eng Ann Teng Tua Pek Kong Temple just locates in front of the floating market wharf. We will visit the temple where the ground flour hall is the host deity, Lord Tua Pek Kong. The second flour is the “Guang Ying” Hall. After that, we climb up the most beautiful 7-Storey Pagoda and have a good viewing of the Sibu town and Rejang river. After that, walk to Sibu town square. Lastly walk back to the car and transfer back to hotel.
